A mobile health application was built to help cancer patients monitor the side effects of capecitabine, an oral chemotherapeutic drug by providing real time advice based on their symptoms. The app generated advice for 9 most common side effects of chemotherapy: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, anorexia, hand and foot syndrome, high temperature, stomatitis, fatigue and chest pain. Automatic alerts were sent to healthcare providers from the app when the intensity of the side effect was too severe.
